What is the ‘Tennyson Volt’?

Tennyson Volt is a semi-professional, tennis team franchise in the Asia Pacific Tennis League (ATL). It is owned and managed by Return Serve and used as an avenue to raise awareness of what we do, as well as, raise critical funds to support our community-based programs.

What makes Tennyson Volt unique to any other team competing in the ATL is the community-orientated values that drives it.

The key goals of Tennyson Volt are to:
  • Raise awareness and critical funds to support the work of Return Serve in the community.
  • Foster a culture of ‘giving back’ amongst professional tennis players, particularly young, up and coming players.
  • Encourage positive role models within the sport of tennis.

Tennyson Volt is based at the Queensland Tennis Centre, arguably the best tennis centre in the country where the Brisbane International is held annually.

What is the ATL?

The ATL is a fast paced, team oriented tennis competition designed to entertain and engage local, national and international sport fans. The competition is split into state based conferences with each conference playing five rounds of matches and a Conference Final. Tennyson Volt competes in the Queensland conference with the aim of winning the Conference Final and moving on to play off for the ATL Title at Melbourne Park during the second week of the Australian Open.

The ATL Queensland Conference takes place over 3 weekends around November/December each year. Stay posted for the 2015 conference dates!

Tennyson Volt in 2014

Tennyson Volt had a fantastic 2014 season with our Women’s team taking out first place at the ATL Queensland Conference! The Women then went on compete at Melbourne Park during the Australian Open giving great exposure to Return Serve and our supporters. In a true team effort they came in fourth place at the playoffs against the Conference Champions from across the Asia-Pacific region.

Our success was a result of great community support and a strong line up of players including World Number 52 Jarmila Gajdosova and World Number 172 Tereza Mdreza. Not only did they jump at the chance to support our cause and play for Tennyson Volt, but Jarmila also donated back all her prize money to Return Serve to support the work we do in the community!
