QLD Mini Tennis Championships
The QLD Mini Tennis Championships is a doubles tennis tournament with a twist – all games are played on modified courts with modified equipment! Mini Tennis is a fun challenge for tennis players (and non-tennis players) of all levels and ages.
Mini Tennis draws on different skills and techniques than tennis, with speed and quick thinking trumping pure power. Men, women, juniors, experienced and non-experienced players find themselves on a level playing field with mini tennis!
The QLD Mini Tennis Championships are also a unique tournament as it is hosted by Return Serve as a fundraising avenue for our community-based sporting programs. All proceeds from the tournament go towards making sport available for everyone in the community, particularly those who face social or financial barriers to participation.
Mini Tennis Court Size and Equipment
Courts are 12m x 6m, using 6m pop-up nets. We use 23″ racquets with low-compression ‘Red Balls’.
2016 QLD Mini Tennis Championships
Mini Tennis will return in 2016 with a series of four mini tennis tournaments played in line with the Grand Slams and giving players a taste of different playing surfaces. Teams can enter for one or all four events. At each tournament, teams will gain points towards their final tally. The team with the most points at the end of the series will be named the 2016 QLD Mini Tennis Champions!
